Could Adria Arjona be the next face of the DC Universe's iconic Wonder Woman? A fascinating new rumor suggests that James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has his sights set on the talented Andor and Hit Man star for his vision of Diana Prince.
For quite some time now, fans have been vocal about their desire to see Adria Arjona don the Lasso of Truth. It appears that this fan sentiment might be aligning with the studio's plans. According to reports from DeuxMoi, a well-known source for celebrity insights and occasional scoops, Arjona is reportedly Gunn's "No. 1 choice" to portray Diana in an upcoming film currently in development, with Ana Nogueira (known for her work on Supergirl) penning the script. While a director hasn't been officially announced yet, this news has certainly set the internet abuzz.
Now, DeuxMoi isn't always the most conventional source, often dealing in celebrity gossip. However, this account has a track record of accuracy with movie-related predictions. They previously hinted at Barry Keoghan being considered for the Joker in Matt Reeves' The Batman and Lady Gaga for Harley Quinn in the Joker sequel, lending some credibility to this latest Wonder Woman rumor.
But here's where it gets interesting... James Gunn himself addressed the buzz around Arjona playing Wonder Woman last year. He clarified his connection to the actress, stating, "I follow Adria on Instagram but everybody came out [and said], ‘He just followed her, that means she’s Wonder Woman. She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way.’ She was in a movie that I made seven years ago. We’ve been friends and have known each other since that time. I followed her then, I didn’t just follow her." This suggests a pre-existing relationship and a genuine admiration for her talent.
Of course, even with Gunn's apparent interest, it's important to remember that this is still a rumor. There's no confirmation that Arjona is officially in talks or that she will ultimately be cast. And this is the part most people miss... Arjona herself has shown a playful openness to the idea. When asked about the Wonder Woman rumors at the premiere of A Minecraft Movie in Mexico City, she responded with a shrug and a gesture to her phone, encouraging fans to "write about it... help me" (loosely translated). This hints at a potential willingness to embrace the role if the opportunity arises.
James Gunn also confirmed in a 2025 interview with Rolling Stone that a Wonder Woman film is indeed a priority for DC Studios. While he downplayed the idea of it being "fast-tracked" into immediate production, he emphasized its importance. He explained, "I’ve always had Wonder Woman as a priority. But we got the first few things started, and there’s some other things that are really close to green-lighting — like there’s a television show that I hope that we’re gonna be green-lighting in the next few days. So now a little time has passed, and we really need Wonder Woman and we really need Batman, because they’re so important to us. And so it’s become a little bit more like going to everybody at DC and being like, we need to figure this out. We have good writers on Wonder Woman and we just have to make sure it’s working and they have to not be somebody who’s gonna take two years to write a script." This indicates a genuine commitment to bringing Wonder Woman back to the big screen, with a focus on finding the right talent and script.
