And this is the part most people miss... Debbie's dementia journey, which began last year, adds an extra layer of complexity to her story. Brooks explains, "We haven't fully explored the impact of her dementia and how it affects her character. It's a challenging situation for her, as she struggles to remember what happened and faces the prospect of prison."
But Debbie's troubles don't end there. Her family is in disarray, with Kevin still furious at Carl for his dark secrets, and Abi seething after being betrayed by Carl's secret affair with James Bailey. Brooks adds, "Debbie's family is falling apart, and she's trying to protect them all while dealing with her own emotions."
However, not everyone is sympathetic towards Debbie. Some Weatherfield residents start to resent her for her role in the crash, which resulted in the tragic death of Billy Mayhew. Brooks states, "Debbie is facing the wrath of the community, which is a massive challenge for her, especially considering her big-hearted nature."
As the story unfolds, we see Debbie's strength and resilience, even in the face of adversity. Brooks concludes, "Despite the drama and secrets, Debbie remains fun and vibrant. We love her, and we all continue to root for her."
