MP Torsten Bell's Outrage: Ospreys 'Stitched Up' by WRU Decision (2026)

Torsten Bell MP has slammed the Welsh Rugby Union's decision to allow Y11 to buy Cardiff, calling it a stitch-up for the Ospreys. Bell, who met with both the WRU and Y11 in the past two days, claims the Ospreys have been unfairly marginalized by the WRU's behind-closed-doors deal. He demands an open, transparent process and calls for a change in leadership at the top of the governing body. The Central Glamorgan Rugby Union district is also calling for an Extraordinary General Meeting to oust WRU chair Richard Collier-Keywood and Professional Rugby Board chair Malcolm Wall, citing the WRU's chaotic handling of the situation as a reason for their demand. This comes as Swansea Council leader Rob Stewart, following a meeting with the WRU and Ospreys, stated there was no viable future for the Ospreys, halting any plans for the team to move into the Swansea ground next season.
