Tigers and Red Wings: A New TV Era with Detroit SportsNet Launch (2026)

Ilitch Sports + Entertainment, the parent company of MLB's Tigers and the NHL's Red Wings, has launched Detroit SportsNet, a new regional sports network. This move comes amidst the ongoing decline of Main Street Sports Group, and follows the unveiling of BravesVision by the Braves last week. The new network will be the local home for both franchises, with live games available through cable, satellite, over-the-air television, and several online and connected TV platforms, including the MLB app for the Tigers. This marks an additional step by Ilitch after the Tigers cut ties with Main Street Sports last month. The move is similar to the one made by the MLB's Rangers to create the Rangers Sports Network last year. MLB Media will still handle backend functions for Ilitch, but the new branding and structure aim to provide a clear sense of a new local TV home for the two teams. Direct-to-consumer subscriptions are priced at $19.99 per month or $189.99 per year, similar to many other RSN streaming packages.
